USPA NEWS - From August 5 until August 21, 2016 will be held the RIO 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in BRAZIL. It will be the first games to be held in South America. 10,500 athlets will be coming from 205 countries. Ce games will last 19 days, there will be 306 medal events. 136 women, 161 men, 9 mixed...
Brief history :
- 776 BC, First Ancient Olympic Games
- 392 AD, the Games were supended

Forty two sports will be contested including two new additions: Golf (returns to the Games after 112 years) and Rugby (return to the Games after 92 years).
Thirty three competitions will be spread across four regions of the city:
- Deodoro (9)
- Maracana (5)
- Barra (15)
- Copacabana (4)

Equestrian eventing will be at the Olympic Equestrian Center in the Deodoro Olympic Park
The Rio 2016 Olympic Equestrian action gets underway the day after the Opening Ceremony on August 5, 2016.
Para-Equestrian Dressage is then set to be a major highlight at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The world's best horses and riders will compete for medals in the Olympic disciplines of Eventing, Dressage an jumping.
The Deodoro Olympic Park is the second largest Rio 2016 Games cluster. Deodoro's nine venues will host the Olympic Sports of Basketball, BMX, Canoe Slalom, Fencing, Hockey, Modern Pentathlon, Mountain Biking, Rugby Sevens, Shooting and the Paralympic Sport of Wheelchair Fencing, Football 7-a-side and Shooting alongside Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Para-Equestrian Dressage.
Rio 2016 Olympic Games - Qualified nations :
- Jumping : ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, CANADA, FRANCE, GERMANY, NETHERLANDS, SWEDEN, UKRAINE, USA, QATAR
- Dressage : AUSTRALIA, BRAZIL, GERMANY, GREAT BRITAIN, NETHERLANDS, USA
- Eventing : AUSTRALIA, BRAZIL, CANADA, GERMANY, GREAT BRITAIN, IRELAND, NETHERLANDS, USA
BRAZIL as host Nnation is automatically qualified. Remaining equestrian team places will be decided at contiental qualifiers.
Rio 2016 Paralympic Games - Qualified nations
BRAZIL as a host is automatically qualified. GREAT BRITAIN, NETHERLANDS, GERMANY were the first nations to qualified team spots for the Rio Paralympic Games. The next high profile qualifier will be held at FEI European Para-Dressage Championships in Deauville (18-20 Sept)
