Wedding hall collapse in east China kills 9, injures 91

USPA News - A roof collapsed onto a wedding party in eastern China on late Thursday afternoon, killing at least nine people and injuring more than 90 others, state-run media reported on Friday. The incident occurred Thursday at approximately 5:20 p.m. local time in Yazhuang village of Pan"an County, located in Zhejiang province. It is believed a large amount of snow that had gathered on the roof caused the collapse, said county government spokesman Yu Manxing, as quoted by the state-run Xinhua news agency. Manxing said more than 100 firefighters and policemen arrived on the scene, along with villagers who volunteered to help. Of the approximately 200 guests in attendance at the wedding celebration, at least nine people were killed while 91 others were injured. Of those, 12 remained in a critical condition on Friday while two others had already been discharged. The Pan"an County government ordered all villages to temporarily halt gatherings while an investigation is carried out.
